Kasey Staniszewski was a 17 year-old Senior at La Plata High School when she was crowned Miss Maryland Teen USA 2009. She was born and raised in Waldorf, MD and recently moved with her family to Edgewater, MD. She lives with her parents, Greg and Kim Staniszewski, her older sister, Lindsay and her Bichon Frise, Cosette.
While in high school, Kasey has been involved with the Student Government Association, being the first Junior ever to be elected Student Government President. As President she led her high school in planning and actively engaging in various student government meetings, special events, and community service projects. Kasey takes pride in being a leader and a positive role model. She is a honor student and a four year member of the Chamber Choir. She was selected to perform with the All-County, Tri-County, and Maryland All-State choruses. She also has been a long time competitive swimmer and a member of her high school swim and dance teams.
Kasey has been singing since the age of 5 and has been involved in musical theater; her first role was “Marta” in the “Sound of Music”. She has performed in over ten musical productions in both community and high school theater. Her dream role is “Christine” in Phantom of the Opera. With her love for music, Kasey also enjoys playing the piano. Her favorite pastime is harmonizing with her sister on some of their favorite duets. Together they have performed at the “Pageant of Peace”, the lighting of the National Christmas Tree.
When finding time to relax she enjoys cooking, exercising, and of course, shopping! Her favorite vacations are going to the beach and trips to New York City to catch a Broadway show.
Kasey’s love of performing and desire for being a positive role model brought her to the stage of Miss Maryland Teen USA. She is ecstatic and is confident that being crowned Miss Maryland Teen USA 2009 will be a memorable, rewarding year in her life. She states that it is a honor to wear this crown and she will take every opportunity to reach out to others. She believes in being genuine and that beauty comes from within. Kasey is compassionate about making others feel special. She thanks her sister for being her positive role model and her parents for leading her down the right path.
Kasey has volunteered her time with Best Buddies, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen, Walk for the Cure, and Queen for a Day. In the short time since she has been crowned, she has been involved with the Girl Scouts and Special Olympics. Kasey is honored to be singing the “National Anthem” at some of these special events.
Kasey continues to take advantage of what the title has offered her. She is a recent graduate of Eagle “U” and attended “Stand-Out Productions.” She looks forward to all the long-lasting friendships and wonderful people that she will meet throughout her year. Kasey worked hard to bring the crown of Miss Teen USA home to Maryland and we are very proud of her 3rd Runner-Up honors!
