ABOUT KIRSTEN

On October 31 st 2010 , Kirsten Nicholson, a 17 year-old from Sykesville, MD, won the title of Miss Maryland Teen USA 2011. She is a freshman at Stevenson University where she is enrolled in the Nursing program and enjoys being a part of her schools community service projects. Currently, Kirsten is a Certified Nursing Assistant who one day hopes to become a Registered Nurse and work in Pediatric Oncology. She loves working with children and helping others so she feels this will be the perfect job for her!

Kirsten also loves to exercise while listening to her iPod, she feels it really motivates her and most importantly, keeps her healthy. When the weather is nice, her favorite place to exercise is outside! Kirsten strongly believes that to be healthy not only should you exercise your body but you should exercise your mind, she accomplishes both through dance. Her favorite style of dance is tap, however, she enjoys other styles such as hip-hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, and modern. She has danced since the age of three and has danced competitively with a team for 8 years. She feels it is an amazing way to express ones self. Kirsten believes it has helped to make her the person she is today. She says dance has been such an important part of her life and wants everyone to have this feeling about something they love.

She is the middle child of two crazy brothers, Kyle and Gavin, but says she wouldn't have it any other way! Aside from being a pageant girl who loves dressing up and wearing make-up, she loves to put on a pair of sweats and play sports or go running with her brothers. Her Mom, Paula, and her two brothers are so supportive of each other and they cannot wait to be a part of this fun year with Kirsten. She is so thankful that her mother has taught her to be a hardworking, dedicated person. She always told her that you can accomplish anything that you want to with dedication and a positive mindset. Kirsten truly feels that if you believe in yourself you can do anything you put your mind to!

Kirsten is beyond excited to be the new Miss Maryland Teen USA. She is honored to hold this title and proud to represent her wonderful state of Maryland for a year. Kirsten is so thankful that she has such great friends and family to support her along the way!
