On November 6, 2016, 18 year old Taylor Spruill was crowned Miss Maryland Teen USA 2017. Taylor resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and is currently a full time student at Wake Forest University. She is a 2016 honors graduate from St. John’s College High School. In addition to excelling academically in high school, she played an active role in her school community. She was a member of three Honor Societies, President of the Social Justice Club (first president of this newly formed club), President of the Believe It or Not I Care Club, Jack and Jill Chapter President, and Senior Class Student Council Representative.
As a freshman biology major, Taylor plans to attend medical school and fulfill her dream of becoming a reproductive endocrinologist. At Wake Forest she is an active participant in campus life. Taylor is a proud Demon Deacon Cheerleader. She loves interacting with the fans and using her spirited personality to motivate Wake teams to victory. Go Deacs!
Taylor has always been passionate about getting involved within her community. She has dedicated countless hours of service at the Boys and Girls Clubs, area food banks, and the Wake Forest Campus Kitchen to prepare meals for the less fortunate. Taylor created the Warm Winters program to collect sleeping bags and blankets for the homeless. Taylor has also helped raise money and participated in the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association. Her motto is “Don’t wait for change to happen, be the change.”
In her spare time, Taylor loves to model and was a Jovani It Girl finalist. She was fortunate to have had the opportunity to model Jovani Fashions in Atlanta and New York. Taylor loves to travel and has been to many countries. Her favorite destination was Australia where she enjoyed sand sledding and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. Taylor is an avid baker and brings decorative cakes and other desserts to family events. She is also a big fan of music and has been playing the clarinet for nine years. Most of all, Taylor likes to spend time with family and friends. Taylor is humbled, honored and excited to represent her home state at Miss Teen USA and throughout her reign.
